Wicked Game

Once there was a girl who was on top of the world
Then she met a guy and time flew by
She thought they'd be together
But he made her cry.

That same girl who was used as a pawn
Gave up on the fellow and moved on.
She focused on herself and put aside the hurt
And soon she met a guy who really wanted her.

This new guy was hurt;
She eased the pain.
The girl was still broken
He kept her sane.

The last boy came back one day to apologize
She was indifferent to his lies.
"I love you", he said, "I just didn't know it before."
"Not now", she replied, "I'm not yours anymore."

The One That Got Away

It's funny that after 8 months of being with you, I got over you so easily. After the breakup, I cried once, picked myself up, told my friends they were right, spent more time with them, met different people. I became a happier person. I met someone who treats me better than you ever did. Seriously, he treats me like a princess even though I don't deserve it. We talk all day and all night. He actually cares and I love that about him. I sit here now realizing that the thing that was bringing me down, killing my emotions, and making me depressed wasn't my life, my lack of a family, and my insignificant problems; it was YOU. There was a reason why everything was pulling us apart from each other. There was a reason for the things my friends told me. And there was a reason why I never really trusted you.

Now, please don't read this thinking I'm a bitter ex girlfriend that is trying to make my ex jealous, because I'm not. I'm thankful we broke up, and thankful for this life experience. Because of the way you treated me, I finally realized I deserve so much better. I don't deserve to  wonder where you are everyday and who your with. I never deserved to be thought of as "second-best". I didn't want it or you after all.

All I wanted was someone to be there for me, whisper sweet nothings to me when I'm down, make sure I never feel sad, cuddle with me when I'm lonely, ditch everything and everyone for me when I really need it. That wasn't you, as much as I wanted it to be. You were immature. You didn't care. You don't think about the future. He's the opposite and I love that about him too. Now you want me back, don't you? Because your whore left you for someone else? Like you did to me? Well, It sucks to be you right now because I'm not yours and never will be again.

Yours truly,
The One That Got Away.

Flawed Notions Preview

Something seemed off to Clare tonight. But, nothing was wrong. She looked around the bar and watched as others were dancing and doing shots. They all seemed happy, as usual, and were having fun drinking, and flirting. She watched as her best friend, Lexi, was engaging in a flirtatious conversation with a good-looking guy next to the door. Lexi seemed to be whispering in his ear, and he looked like he was enjoying whatever she was saying. Looking to the other side of the bar, Clare saw that even her boyfriend, Cole, seemed to be having fun playing pool with her brother, Matt. So why was it that she was the only one standing alone and wanting to leave?

That Night part 3

Jamie was frozen in place behind a tree as she watched the two. A middle aged man with a top hat, dressed as if he were from a different era, was conversing in secret with a lady, dressed the same way except she wore a modest dress, in the middle of the forest path. They were intently whispering to each other there in the middle of the forest at night, except they weren't really there. They had no color in their faces, nor did their clothes show any signs of ever having color. Their hair didn't have any color either, in fact you could almost see right through them. They stood there with the moon shining down on them between the trees of the forest, and they became luminescent. Glowing a greyish whitish color, which was the only thing that kept you from seeing through them, their faces showed that they were in deep conversation, but Jamie couldn't hear a thing. The man had his back towards her and the lady was in front of him, her face almost towards Jamie's direction. Abruptly, as they were whispering to each other, the lady looked at Jamie. This frightened Jamie, but she couldn't move for she was frozen with utter fear.

The lady's face was concentrated on Jamie, and the man turned around to look at her too. Suddenly, as if by a sudden change in the atmosphere, Jamie wasn't scared anymore. She became extremely calm, as if she was in a dream state, and she walked up the them slowly. The man took a step back to let the lady walk up to Jamie, and when the lady was standing maybe only a foot from her, she said, "He loves you, dear." This was the first time Jamie heard either of them make a sound, although they were whispering to each other before, and this made her think. How does she know about Greg? He didn't tag along for the camping trip. He was actually completely disinterested in coming to the forest for 3 days, even if it meant being with me. Still wondering how the lady knew about him, she asked, "How do you know that?"
The lady smiled, a bright glow of a smile in the dark night, and replied, "The way he watches you sleep. It tells me he is very  protective of you and would do anything to keep you safe." Greg and I don't sleep together... is what she was about to say,  but then, she realized she wasn't talking about Greg at all. She looked up at the moon as she thought about this for a second. She was about to say something to the lady, but she didn't know what to say. When she finally knew what she wanted to say, she looked back down at where the lady and man had been standing. That's right... had been, for they weren't there any longer.

She had been walking in the forest, following a feeling. A feeling that was not really a feeling, but an inkling. Jamie didn't know exactly what had made her get up from her sleeping bag and walk out into the middle of the forest at 4 in the morning, but if she had to explain it, it was a gut feeling that something was out there. She couldn't remember how she got here- it was like a dream. Not being able to remember how she got here means she couldn't remember her way back. She was lost and she smelled blood. Suddenly a feeling of drowsiness hit her, and she fell on the ground and couldn't move- so she helplessly watched the stars as she felt her eyes closing.

In her subconscious mind, it was pitch black. She could no longer see the night sky, or the beautiful stars. She felt paralyzed and utterly helpless as she laid in the darkness waiting for something- for anything.

After a few moments of nothing, she felt something shaking her gently, and she heard a voice: "Oh no, Jamie. Please wake up." She felt arms go around her as the, now frightened, voice said, "Please, I can't live without you- I love you!" This made her eyes fly open and she was able to catch glimpses of what was happening. Allan was looking down at her and working quickly to get things out of his first aid kit. She looked over to his blood stained hands and then down at herself. She didn't see anything wrong, but then she noticed a sharp pain coming from her ears and nose. She blacked out.

Jamie woke up in the hospital to see Allan sitting on her bedside, holding her hand. A suddenly relieved Allan squeezed her hand gently but said nothing. He looked like he had been crying. She was weak but she didn't feel pain. She felt better than she did in the forest, so she squeezed his hand back and said, "Allan, I love you too." Later on she was told that her ears and nose started bleeding severely do to some kind of trauma, and that Allan had searched the woods for signal on his cellphone to call for help. Meanwhile, he stopped the bleeding in time before the medics came and found them. "He saved her life", said the doctor to her mother that afternoon. Her mother had always liked Allan, and this just made her appreciate him even more. Greg didn't show up to check on her at the hospital, but Britt and Danny came with flowers and "get well soon cards"- as if they were appropriate in this situation- but she thanked them anyway. Jamie recovered fully by Sunday afternoon and was able to leave the hospital. Allan by her side, holding her hand and whispering sweet things into her ear.

But how did that happen? The doctors couldn't imagine what could have caused her that kind of trauma. They asked her if she had been attacked by animals in the woods or if she had seen anything frightening, and she replied "no." She wasn't really lying... the lady and the man weren't frightening to her by the end of the night. Sure, they were ghosts but she felt like she knew them somehow. Had the ghosts done this to her? If so, why? What could have been the reason for putting her through this? Then she looked to her right, at Allan who was squeezing her hand and asking if she was alright. Maybe they knew this would happen. She thought about this for a while, then she smiled at Allan and kissed his cheek as she said, "I am now."

That Night part 2

Jamie ran back to her sleeping bag as fast as she could-trying not to fall face first on the dirt ground- and was shaking as she tried to get in it. She finally got the zipper open and jumped into it, closing her eyes tightly and pretending like she didn't just see a pair of eyes watching her from a bush.

That didn't happen. I'm just dreaming... or maybe someone spiked my drink earlier around the fire. Yeah, that's what probably happened. It seemed like something her friends would do since she was always so "boring and uptight" compared to them. They must have slipped some alcohol into her drink in an attempt to make her have a little more fun. Well, that was NOT fun. If that's the effects of alcohol, I never want to drink again. Still squeezing her eyes shut, she sighed and tried to get control of her shaking body. But she couldn't get the image of the pale glowing eyes out of her head, and that made it so hard to calm down.

After about a half hour, she was relaxed and fast asleep in her sleeping bag again. This time it was after only an hour of sleep that she felt hands pushing her hard into the ground and she woke up yelling with built up fear. Allan's face looked concerned as he pressed his hand to her mouth and said, "Jamie, calm down! What's with the yelling?". Jamie unzipped the sleeping bag and sat up to examine him and make sure he wasn't a murderer, or something. "Allan, you ass. Did you have to wake me up like that? You couldn't be a bit gentle?", she said as she rubbed the places where he pushed her. "Sorry. I heard noises in the woods, and everyone is sleeping together except us so-"
"So you woke me up to tell me let's split up and find out where the noises in the woods are coming from? Yeah, I don't think so. You and I have watched way too many horror movies for you to be that stupid."
"Actually", Allan said as he pointed to the sleeping bag next to him, "I came out here to push our sleeping bags together and pray that Slenderman won't kill both of us."
Jamie started giggling like an idiot at this and patted the ground, a motion that said he was welcomed. He set up his sleeping bag on her left and lied down, sighing in relief. "Feel better?", Jamie whispered while she watched him. Allan turned his head and smiled at her, a smile that was illuminated in the moonlight and looked ever so cute on his face, as he said, "Yeah, thanks. I'm sure it was nothing but if I die, I want to be with my best friend. I just ask that you leave me behind and name your future baby after me."
This made Jamie smile, too and whisper, "I couldn't leave you behind, Allan. I would die without you."
"Your a strong independent woman who don't need no man to help her run away", he said and they both stared at each other for a few seconds before bursting out into laughter. His laugh always made her feel better, and she would always laugh quietly so she could hear it better. She didn't know that he did the same when she laughed. They both stared up into the night sky and talked about the things they always talked about: school, college, life, old memories, the times they shared together, and what they want to do in the future when they finish school and are out on their own. Jamie fell asleep after tons of laughter and smiles, and as she slept, he held her hand and drifted off to sleep too.

It was about 4:30am when Allan woke up feeling very uncomfortable. He felt like something was wrong, or something bad was about to happen. He blinked a few times before turning over to see if Jamie was awake too, but when he looked over to her sleeping bag-she wasn't there.

That Night part 1

Hearing strange noises coming from behind her, Jamie woke up and froze in her sleeping bag. The noises were continuous and sounded like they were getting faster. What is that?, she thought as she stared out into the open night. The campfire looked like it had burned out maybe an hour or two ago. She had gone to bed at 10 tonight because swimming in the lake earlier had tired her out. Had she only been asleep for two hours? It felt like a little more than that. Good dreams bring better rest, I guess, she thought  and as she was thinking that, the noises got louder and she heard a whine coming from the same direction. If someone was in trouble or hurt, it would be hard to find reception in the woods to call 911. Jamie was scared to think that maybe one of her friends was hurt. She wondered how bad it was. Maybe someone had burned themselves near the campfire earlier but hadn't said anything. Or maybe someone had gotten rope burn from when they were making that tire swing near the lake. What if someone was having a heart attack, or was being stabbed by a merciless killer?? The possibilities were endless and she got more frightened by the second. She finally sucked in a quick breath and got ready to face whatever the trouble was, and hoping she could carry the responsibility to get help-if needed. She turned around in her sleeping bag and looked over the area, finding what was making the noises that woke her up.

About 4 feet away from her in the double sleeping bag, Danny and Britney were humping each other as fast as rabbits. The whine came from Britt, and it was clearly from sexual pleasure. No one was hurt or in trouble like she had thought. Her friends were actually having a great time romancing in the night. She turned over in her sleeping bag, being careful not to let them know she was up, and stared up at the night sky. The stars were all out tonight and it was really a sight for the eyes. Jamie could never imagine she would see such a dark blue sky with so many sparkly white specks. The moon was luminescent and when she looked to her side she saw that it emitted a white glow over the dark waters of the lake. I guess seeing something like this could get a couple in the mood, she thought to herself as she stared into this wonderful scene. After a minute or two, she heard Danny and Britt moan and the noises stopped. Soon afterwards, she heard some snoring that added to the loud snoring coming from Allan's tent.

Jamie decided, since she couldn't go back to sleep, she would get up and sit near the bushes around the lake and think for a while. So, she picked herself up and walked over to the lake very quietly and took a seat under a tree, near the bushes. This was only the start of day 2 of their 3 day camping trip, which started on Friday morning. Considering it was about midnight, it was now Saturday morning. She hugged her knees as she thought about the good things in her life. She and her friends would graduate high school soon, and would be off to college. There, she would get ready to earn her degree and start a life. It wasn't really exciting, but it wasn't boring either considering she already knew who she would spend the rest of her life with. Pulling out her phone, Jamie was surprised to have found some signal under this tree, and decided to take advantage by sending Greg, a text message telling him that she was alright and she'd be home soon. She was delighted to get a text back from him saying: Okay baby. Goodnight. I love you <3.
She of course replied with an 'I love you too', then put away her phone because she started feeling tired again. Just as she was about to get up and head back to her sleeping bag, she heard a rustle come from in between the bushes. I wonder if someone is having sex there, too, she mused as she examined the bush it came from. Jamie froze as she saw a pair of eyes coming from in those bushes, unable to move her gaze from them and they watched her back.

I Hate/Love You

Sally darted through the school hallways as fast as she could to get to her locker. She was out of breath as she reached it, and fumbled with the lock on it when suddenly a figure appeared at the locker next to her. "Avoiding someone?", said Ben as he leaned against his locker watching her carefully. She let out a sigh of relief as she saw her friend and said, "Fuck you."
"Hey, what'd I do?", he said looking astonishingly at her. "Nothing. I'm sorry you just scared me", she whispered as she pulled her Algebra book out of her locker. "Oh. So let me guess... Jason?", he raised an eyebrow at her as he waited for her reply. She put the lock back on and stood still saying nothing. "Sally, if he's bothering you just stand up for yourself. I don't think running around and avoiding him will help." She looked up at him with a frown and said, "Ben, please, I have to go. I'm sorry". She gave him a quick hug and fled the scene before he could say anything to her.

Running through hallways was never a good idea for a clumsy person. She stumbled as she moved through the crowd of students who were now trying to get to their lockers. It seemed like she was the only one in a hurry, and she was. She was in so much of a hurry that she didn't notice the person in front of her and ran right into them. The unsuspecting person was knocked onto the ground and Sally fell right on top of them, her head hitting their chest. As she was picking herself up and apologizing profusely as the person moaned in pain, the person said something and she looked down.
"Sally?", said Jason as he looked up at her. God, please no, Sally thought as she quickly picked up her book and tried to get up and run away from the person she had been avoiding. He held her arms gently to keep her from leaving as he uttered, "Listen, we need to talk."
"Jason, no. Please let me go", she begged as she struggled against his grip. Still holding her arms, he sat up and made her sit up beside him. "Sally, listen to me please. I'm begging you right now", he whispered. She looked down at the floor while preparing to listen to him reluctantly. "Sally, I have been nothing but mean to you since day one of highschool, and I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to take it that far."
"But you did. You hurt me, okay? And I don't want to talk to you ever again", she yelled as tears collected in her eyes. "I know and I really am sorry. I don't deserve to be forgiven, I know that too. It was wrong of me to embarrass you in front of everyone like that. I was joking and I didn't mean it", he said softly to calm her down.
"You wrote 'Loser' on my forehead, Jason. Is that really what you think of me? You're a shit friend", she yelled even louder and tears started rushing down her face. He put a finger under her chin and lifted her eyes to his. "Please, don't cry. Of course I don't think that way of you. Just let me explain myself", he whispered as his eyes became wet, "Do you want to know why I tease you so much? Why I embarrass you constantly until your face turns bright red?". She wiped away her tears and watched him silently as she waited for an answer to all these questions. "It's because I love you, Sally. I always have and always will. I like to joke around with you to see you blush. I tease you because I don't know how else to show how much I care", he slowly pronounced each word as he looked into her eyes, "But I found a new way to express it". And before she could say something, he held her face in his hands and kissed her with a passion that took her breath away. She moved her hands up his back to wrap them around his neck, and she whispered, "I love you too, Jason. It wouldn't have hurt so much if I didn't."
